What is being served?

Jennt and draught Leffe

Real Ale

The changes are rung every few days and usually there are three different bitters ready for tasting. The regular is usually Adnams Southwold Bitter or Greene King IPA. A good choice is offered from light fruity citrus bitters, through to full bodied and malty brews. Sign up for the latest information by subscribing to 'The Shoes News'. Some of the recent favourite beers are listed in our favourite beer league.

Well if you have to drink lager then clearly it has to be draught Leffe. At the end of the bar there is a draught Leffe pump so that you can enjoy some real Abbey beer served authentically. (Leffe Blonde is 6.9% so needs to be given some respect.)

Besides the more familiar fare such as Carlsberg and Kronenburg 1664 there is a selection of bottled lagers including one that is alcohol free and surprisingly drinkable.

A regular wine list is maintained with a good range of quality wines to be drunk in the bar or with food. There are house wines which have quality that is not reflected in the price. (We don't keep the cheap brands!)

What's in the Dog?

Ask Jerry if he's prepared to sell you a glass of LBV port from the dog. He's understandably a bit possessive about it. He also carries a few other unusual drinks and some malt whiskeys. Don't ask Jerry if he likes Laphroaig.
